BKL Consultants Limited, Burnaby

Acoustical Consultant
        Jun 2016 – Jan 2018 & Mar 2020 – Present
  • Project management, analysis and reports for a dozen of industrial, architectural and environmental noise projects, assessing noise impacts, complaint investigations, room acoustics, occupational noise, mechanical noise and structure-borne vibration resulting in strong multi-tasking and organization skills
  • Developed complex large-scale 3-D acoustical models using Cadna/A for highway expansions and mine impact studies with precision and detail, resulting in quality noise reports and client satisfaction
  • Analyzed mechanical services noise for sensitive spaces at hospitals, working closely with the architect and project team to meet 50%, 85% and 90% deliverables
  • Designed an in-house Excel-based calculator on ISO 15712 Part 3 from scratch for custom TL selection of walls, windows, doors and roof based on standard with up to three facades and two possible noise sources (road and airplane), resulting in reducing up to 5 hours spent in analysis per project
  • Site measurements for more than 40+ sites, setting up B&K 2250’s, 01dB Duo’s for 24-, 48- and 72-hour measurements

Institute National de la Recherche et de la Sécurité (INRS), France

Acoustic Intern (Stagiere)
        Jan 2015 – Jun 2015
  • Designed and programmed an integrated measurement system that can be used by technicians to efficiently measure the properties of Open Plan Offices based on ISO 3382 and European standards.
  • Using the design cycle, generated ideas and specified materials and equipment needed for the system, using weighted analysis. Developed survey and analyzed feedback for technician needs.
  • Programmed a high pass filter and simultaneous input of continuous buffer systems for signal processing using a data acquisition system. Programmed FFT with Hanning window at 50% step function for accuracy in data, and easy functionality in data analysis, which is automatically calculated in the program
  • Programmed in data calculation through MLS impulse delay, which removes the requirement of physical measurement through tape rulers or laser pointers, and is accurate up to 0.1m
  • Tested GRAS artificial mouth simulator against ISO-14257 for omni-directionality and designed a minimalistic mouth support for sound reflection

Stantec Consulting, Calgary

Co-op Student
       May 2014 – Sept 2014
  • Supporting the noise team with baseline analysis, modeling, reports and fieldwork
  • Helped edit Environmental Assessment of Noise for Trans-Canada pipeline implementation, wrote two Noise Monitoring Assessment reports
  • Developed noise contours, created models and analyzed results on Cadna/A
  • Set up field equipment for two weeklong baseline monitoring projects, and one railway projects, gaining valuable hands-on experience

Acoustics and Noise Research Group, Vancouver

NSERC/Co-op Research Assistant
        Aug 2013 –Dec 2013
  • Built three detailed models and two simple models for auralization, developing software expertise in CATT-Acoustics, AutoCAD, and Sketchup
  • Recorded three anechoic wav files for auralization
  • Research in living vegetation green walls as highway barriers and their effects on the soundscape using an acoustic analysis program, SAMURAI
